Dr. Aaron L. Brody

Biography
Dr. Aaron Brody is an expert on the safest and best ways to package food,
including vacuum packaging. Currently an Adjunct Professor at The University
of Georgia's Department of Food Science & Technology, Dr. Brody has more than
four decades of experience in food science.
Highlights of Dr. Brody’s work include working with General Foods Corporation
on the first precooked frozen foods, and helping to develop the first microwave
ovens with Raytheon Manufacturing Co. In addition, Dr. Brody has published
several research studies on food science and safe food packaging, including a
study on the best methods of vacuum packaging foods. He has earned several
awards for his work and is frequently looked to as an expert by media.
Among his awards and honors are election to the Packaging Hall of Fame; the
Nicholas Appert award, Institute of Food Technologists' (IFT) highest award;
IFT's Industrial Scientist award and Riester-Davis award for lifetime achievement
in food packaging; Institute of Packaging Professionals' (IoPP) member of the
year and honorary life member. He is Fellow of IFT and IoPP. He is a
registered professional engineer.
Dr. Brody is a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology with bachelor's
and doctorate degrees. His research is on display at the MIT Museum. He also
holds an MBA from Northeastern University which honored him with its Outstanding
Alumni Award. In 2005, Michigan State University honored him by establishing
the Aaron and Carolyn Brody Fund for Food Packaging Education and Research in
its School of Packaging.
